Svetlana Cameron is a Russian-born British portrait artist dedicated to the revival of traditional fine art. Trained in the methods of Old Masters, she specializes in portraiture in the style of classical realism. She is best known for her elaborate portraits of dignitaries in ceremonial wear and delicate lifelike portraits of children. Svetlana Cameron holds the title of a "Living Master" awarded by the Art Renewal Center (USA), is included in the list of Top 40 international Masters of Pastel by the French publisher "Pratique des Arts", and is an elected Full Member of the UK national Society of Graphic Fine Art. She lives in the Isle of Man where she works out of her studio in Braddan. A sought-after portrait painter, she travels internationally to exhibit and meet her sitters.

Svetlana Cameron's original "three-colour" drawing technique has won international acclaim and received awards in art competitions in Great Britain, USA and Russia. Inspired by the coloured chalk drawing of the Renaissance period, Svetlana's method relies on use of the French drawing medium Conte-a-Paris in only three colours - black, red (sanguine), and white. Skillfully mixed and blended on neutral toned paper, the 3-colour palette produces a wide range of semi-translucent lifelike skin tones, particularly suited for portraying children.

Svetlana's oil painting method is based on the traditional Flemish technique. She begins her works with a grisaille under-painting, which is followed by layers of opaque over-painting and rich transparent colour glazes. Rarely practised today due to its complexity and time consuming nature, this traditional multi-layered approach allows the artist to create luminous colours and fine details which are not possible to achieve by using modern direct painting methods.

Svetlana's works hang in many private and public collections. Her portraits of the Speakers of the Isle of Man Parliament are included in the UK National Collection of Oil Paintings and are featured on ART UK.
